Reset-to-snapshot beats clean-as-you-go

The machines that get this right don't clean up — they discard. Reboot-to-restore tools (Deep Freeze and its imitators) freeze a known-good system state and throw away every change a customer made the moment the machine reboots. That covers files, settings, installed software and malware in one move, which no amount of scripted cleaning can match. The price is discipline: the frozen baseline has to include current game updates and AV definitions, or every customer pays the patch-download tax.

If budget rules out such tools, Windows has native approximations: a guest account whose profile is wiped at sign-out, Shared PC mode on Pro and Enterprise editions, or Assigned Access for a locked-down kiosk that runs one browser and nothing else. All three trade flexibility for the guarantee that the next customer starts from a clean slate.

The between-customers checklist

Whatever the underlying setup, the manual pass between customers fits on one list. It is built to be finished before the next person sits down:

• Sign the previous customer out and let the profile-wipe task finish before re-arming the login screen
• Browsers: remove user profiles, saved passwords and autofill — not just history — in Chrome, Edge and Firefox
• Empty Downloads, Desktop and Documents remnants plus the Recycle Bin
• Temp folders, print spooler leftovers and crash dumps — the traces the last session left
• Check for USB sticks, cables and cameras physically left at the seat
• Confirm the antivirus icon is green and definitions are updated before the next session starts

What must survive the reset

A reset routine that erases everything indiscriminately is its own failure mode. Keep a separate admin account for the staff, unreachable from the customer login screen, and let it hold license activations, game launchers already signed out, and the pre-seeded update cache so customers don't re-download the same gigabytes all day. Schedule the heavy maintenance — full updates, AV scans, disk cleanup — for the night shift through Task Scheduler, and run the browser, temp and profile sweep between customers with a scripted tool like Kleaner PRO so it takes one click instead of ten.
